Neat Ways to Clean Work Uniforms

Check out these ways to clean all sorts of work uniform stains!

Purchasing employee uniforms is one way to cut costs but still have high-quality work uniforms. Ace Uniform offers a Uniform Purchase Program, which gives one the opportunity to take advantage of their wide array of quality uniform options and easy ordering process. On the average day at work, messes can happen. Here are several neat ways to clean work uniforms on the job or at home.

Restaurant Workers

Restaurant work can get dirty in the blink of an eye. First, if you have chunks stuck in the uniform, gently scrape off as much as possible. Be careful not to damage the fabric. The best way to begin treatment after that is usually to soak the fabric in water and then apply some kind of detergent.

If it is wine, you can apply a bit of salt to the stain. Soak the uniform stain in salt and warm water for 20 minutes and then rinse it out.

White vinegar is a good pre-treatment for coffee stains. After treating it thus, rinse the stain with hot water.

If you’ve got oil such as cooking oil or butter on your uniform, you could help remove it by coating the stain with an absorbent like baking powder or cornstarch. Wash the garment after 30 minutes of the absorbent treatment.

Cleaners/Medical Personnel

Janitorial and medical personnel can see more grime on the average day than many people. Blood stains strictly need a cold water treatment with a laundry detergent or hydrogen peroxide. Soaking the stain and rubbing it out in cold water after 10-15 minutes should do the trick.

Here’s something to try: if you have ink stains, use rubbing alcohol on cotton and hairspray on polyester before throwing it in the wash.

Mechanics

Mechanics might see a lot of oil or grease get on their work uniforms. They can keep clean work uniforms by soaking up grease and oil with baby powder, baking powder, or cornstarch. Wash the item in warm water by itself or with other greasy clothes, otherwise the grease or oil can contaminate the rest of the load.

Landscapers

Landscapers are most likely to get down and dirty, and thankfully, mud is one of the easiest dirts to wash off. If there are mild grass stains, soaking the uniform in a mixture of water, white vinegar, and detergent for a few minutes can help. One may need a specialized cleaner for tougher stains.
